Have a creative mind for names and word play? Maybe you could create your own domain names and sell them for a profit. Domains that are easy to type and easy to remember are the best, and if they are short, even better! The longer the domain name is, the harder it is to remember and greater is the chance of someone misspelling it.
However, do not fall into the trap of using hyphens or other characters in your domain name. People will tend to forget them or it becomes too messy. Using numbers can also be tricky. You don’t want people having to spell out your domain name in this manner: “hyphen, then the number 9” etc… People can get confused about whether the number is a digit (5) or a word (five). If you are able to buy both (the domain name with the digit and the word because you really gotta have that number), then you can use one to direct or point users to the other.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some words could have different spellings, or rather, you could make them have a different spelling. (For example: Kite vs Kyte, Woofer vs Woopher, Psycho vs Cycko, Lowpile vs Lopile, Shucky vs Shukky, you get the point…). Do not make it too hard for people to spell it out correctly (the way you want it to be) because word of mouth is powerful and you want people to easily remember it and tell their friends about your website. In addition, you could also buy similar domains like uoha.com and uoha.net if you believe your business will really kick off (as dot com) and someone else might get the dot net and try to compete. (Other things to look at at this point would be trademarking your product, domain name, logo, etc). Bottom line, sticky with dot com (.com) whenever you can.
Names that will still be meaningful in 5, 10 years, are part of your best bet. You don’t want to use a slang word that will vanish with time, unless you really make it big in this industry. But slang words tend to go away, making room for new ones. Non-native speakers may have a really difficult time understanding the slang meaning and/or definition.
It is not easy to find the perfect domain, especially if the "perfect" name would have been with ".com" because, well, they are all taken!! But there are some domain names close to perfection still out there, depending on the industry or business you are trying to get into and if dig deep in your brain for your creative self.
